This annoying bubble message pops up repeatedly when you are low on disk space (under 200MB) and there is no way to disable it through Windows preferences. To eliminate the low disk space warning, you need to dig through you system registry and add a key value that disables it by default. The steps are simple to follow and will only take one minute.
- Click on Start -> Run.
- Type "regedit" without the quotes. Hit enter.
- Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
- Right click on the right pane where some existing key values appear. Then select New -> DWORD
- Name the new key NoLowDiscSpaceChecks (just copy and paste this).
- Double click on your newly created key and change its default value data to 1. Click OK.
- Close regedit and restart your computer. The annoying "Low Disk Space" warning will no longer appear. Now clean up your hard drive!
